Problem with taskbar.exe?

Title – taskbar.exe

Description – There are two known instances of the taskbar.exe process. The first, genuine use of the process belongs to the Redline RegTweak software that comes bundled with Sapphire ATI Graphics cards. This is a genuine process and, unless you are suffering problems directly as a result of the process it should be left enabled on your system.

However, if you have the taskbar.exe process on your system then it is also possible that you have been infected by the Frethem virus. This worm transmits by email using its own SMTP engine in order to harvest email addresses from your system and then forward instances of itself to these contacts. The worm can quickly spread through all of your contacts infecting their systems on arrival.

Associated Errors – The email spreads with the subject header of “Re: Your Password”. Once opened it will install within the main Windows folder on your system. It will hibernate for a relatively short period of time before setting up a registry entry so that it is run whenever you start your PC.

Recommended Solution – Update your Internet security applications and thoroughly scan your system to find any threats on your computer. You should also attempt to find the file and the email manually because not all applications can effectively remove this threat from your system.
