Problem with
itunes.exe?
Title
– itunes.exe
Description
– The itunes.exe process is a component that belongs to a member
of the Rbot worm family. This family of spyware worms uses
commonly recognized names and words as executable file
descriptions in order that users do not believe it to be a
harmful process. Specifically, this family of worms consists of
backdoor infections.
Worms are typically spread through email, messenger, or chat
sessions and can be difficult to trace. If you regularly receive
large amounts of spam emails then you are in a particularly high
risk category and may have installed this process yourself
inadvertently.
Backdoor infections literally open a backdoor to your system
that can be accessed by other applications or third parties.
Once access has been gained, hackers can access personal
information, system settings, files and folders, and Internet
browsing history. The theft of personal data in this way can be
particularly damaging because hackers not only have potential
access to banking and credit card details but also to any
personally identifiable information on your PC.
Associated Errors
– Typically you will find a copy of a file named itunes.exe
within the system folder on your PC. You will also find registry
entries calling the same file when you run your PC and you will
see an active process with this same name. Your PC may run
slowly and you might begin to experience a greater number of
software errors and system errors.
Recommended Solution
– The complete removal of itunes.exe and all other components of
the Rbot worm need to be fully removed. This should be done with
antispyware software that has been recently updated with the
latest definitions and signatures. This will ensure that even
the latest threats are removed and that your PC is left in a
cleaner state. You may also consider the use of a registry
cleaner to further rid any errors from your system.
